1966 Dodge Polara

1966 Dodge Polara

Introduced in the United States in the 60’s as Dodge’s top-of-the-line full size car.

The name Polara was a reference to the Polaris star, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race during the early 1960s. The Polara was a competitor to the Ford Galaxie 500 and the Chevrolet Impala.

1960 marked the first year that all Chrysler models, save the Imperial, used a  unibody construction.

One constant of the 1965 to 1968 models was taut, square-edged styling.
The ’66 2 door Hardtop Polara we have up for sale is the perfect example for this style.

Equipped with a 383 2BBL V8 (325 hp), and 3 speed automatic trasmission, power steering, and A/C, this classic is ready to be restored.

The previous owner decided to make this his personal project but sadly didn’t know a lot about prepping or painting a car.  This resulted in a crappy paint job with lots of bubbles.
The body itself is very solid though.

The interior is still in good shape with no rips or tears but it does need a good clean up, the dash pad has cracked however.

Mechanically this car runs and drives fine.  The module for the original cruise control is still installed as well, although it’s no longer hooked up.

If you feel you are up to a small project with big results, or you are a MOPAR fanatic on a budget that wants a cool ride of his own, this ’66 Polara will not let you down.
